it’s not stealing if you give it away

Woof. It’s late. Or early. But Gavin has a great sacred space coming together here at Youth 2011.

One of the best things about coming to events like this as a youthworker is all the cheap-but-great ideas you stumble upon to swipe for your own ministry. And if you’re very clever, when you arrive home you can pass the idea off as your own, much like I’ll be doing with these sharp-looking lighted columns.

To begin: procure 8′ x 4′ sheets of coloplast (it sounds fancy, but it’s just corrogated sign material). Slit one side of the material vertically so that it folds in thirds to form a triangular column. Tape a 2 liter of your youth group’s least favorite beverage to the inside of the bottom of the column, then attach a clip-on work light to the top of the 2 liter, pointed up. Secure the vertical joint of the column with some more tape, and voila!, you’ve created eye-pleasing magic.

Or a rave, if you don’t have supplementary lighting options.
This day is already tomorrow, so for now I bid you a good yester-night.

Peace,
K
