Praying for Your Pain

We have wrapped up the last of the Youth 2011 events. As Kevin & I tore down the Sacred Space room we went thru all the various artwork, prayers, liturgies, litanies, and prayer concerns. This one particular prayer concern has captured my heart more than any other.

‘Back in the day’ I remember having a few girls that cut themselves. It was a relatively new occurrence in society an I was I’ll equipped to handle (honestly i am basically still I’ll equipped to handle) tenant did what I could of talking to the girls, their parents and reading up all I could on it. My ultimate experience was that nothing really stopped until they recognized that others (mainly their peers) really could empathize with them and that they were not alone in their pains.

To this youth from Youth 2011. I wanted you to know that I am carrying home with me this visual representation of the pain you are in and will be praying for you. Being some old guy who hasn’t been a teenager for almost two decades I can’t really understand your hurt, but I’m standing with you as I can. You are not alone
